Gardaí are searching for the driver of a silver car that struck and injured a Garda in Limerick on Monday evening. The incident occurred in the Brú na Gruadán estate, Castletroy, around 6:30 pm during an attempt to stop a vehicle traveling with false license plates.

The garda was on foot at the time they were struck by the car which fled the scene, a Garda spokeswoman confirmed. The Garda was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of “non-life-threatening injuries”. “Any persons with mobile phone or dash cam footage are also asked to make that footage available,” added the Garda spokesman.
