Garda Superintendent calls meeting after 'vicious and unprovoked attack' on man in his 60s in South Dublin

A Garda Superintendent has called a public meeting following a vicious and unprovoked attack on an elderly man in South Dublin.The man, who is in his 60s, was targeted outside the old post office on Marian Road just beside Roma Take Away.

Alongside Dublin South West TD, John Lahart, Garda Superintendent Ian Lackey is holding a briefing in Ballyroan Boys' National School to discuss the horrible attack, Dublin Live reports. The short public meeting is being held in an attempt to reassure local people regarding the "random nature of this assault" and to "outline the garda response to the incident."

Gardai told Dublin Live that they are currently investigating the incident which took place in the Dublin 14 area."A man in his 60s was taken to hospital with facial injuries. Investigations are ongoing", they concluded.
