Sources have revealed that the suspect for the hijacking of a Nissan Qashqai in central Dublin on Monday afternoon with the tot in the back is from the inner city – and lives just a few minutes walk from the scene of the crime.
Gardai are tonight hunting a petty criminal after officers mounted a desperate search for a car that was 'hijacked' – with a little baby girl inside. Sources have told The Mirror that officers have identified the prime suspect for the shocking incident – and are confident of a quick arrest.

He jumped in the car and drove off – while the terrified mother tried to chase after the vehicle. She then contacted gardaí -who began a major search operation for the little girl.
“A yellow & red ribbon on rear view mirror. C & C Garage air freshener on rear view also. The car also has a dog cage in the boot which may be visible. The last sighting of this vehicle was in the Mountjoy Square area.But within five minutes of the alert being issued, gardai found the car and the toddler on North Richmod Street, some 600 metres away at around 4pm. The toddler was safe and well and was quickly reunited with her mother.
He said: “Obviously a very traumatic time for the mother and father with their baby girl gone missing like that but thankfully they were all reunited together shortly after 4pm.”
