Gardaí have issued an appeal to the public to help identify a man whose body was recovered from the water at Claddagh Quay in Co Galway on November 17. The man is believed to have been in his 60s and to have had an Irish accent.
Despite extensive enquiries since his body was recovered ten days ago, Gardai have been unable to identify him. He is estimated to be around 5 foot 7 inches in height and of a medium build between 78kg and 80kg. He had blue eyes and a full head of red/ grey hair and a full grey beard.Read more: Social welfare Ireland: Date for cost-of-living Christmas bonus and who will get itThe man was wearing a grey tweed suit jacket and trousers, a blue and white striped shirt with a flowery print along the seams, buttons and inside the collar. He was wearing size 10 Asos brand black laced dress shoes and had black-rimmed glasses on him. "Extensive enquiries have been carried out but there has been no positive identification of the deceased to date,” Superintendent Paudie O'Shea of Galway Garda Station said. He is appealing to owners of guest houses, landlords, hotels, hostels, bed and breakfasts and Airbnbs to check if anybody left their premises and may have left property behind. Gardaí have asked that anyone with information should contact Galway Garda Station on 091 538000, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
