Gerard The Monk Hutch arrived to the RDS count centre to a media circus on Sunday afternoon as he was knocked out of the Dublin Central race during the final election count.
He ruled out a run for the Presidency but say he would “consider” running again for the Dáil. As the media circled around him, he said he was “a bit camera shy” and said “you haven’t a guard around when you need him”. “I would do what they want. I would do whatever they want. How I done so well is cause the people voted me and I’m happy with that.”
Mr Hutch ran through the car park of the RDS count centre being pursued by members of the media before turning onto the main road and continuing to run away. The veteran criminal has been canvassing around Dublin. In recent days, he was filmed speaking to voters in the city centre. In a clip posted to his own social media account, a woman told him to “keep an eye on the gangsters in Dáil Éireann.”
