Some passengers are reportedly stuck on the runway at Glasgow Airport
A number of flights have been delayed and even diverted at Glasgow Airport, throwing holidaymakers' travel plans into chaos today.
There's also reports several flights scheduled to arrive at Glasgow have been diverted to Prestwick Airport instead.Some travellers have even been grounded on the runway inside a "hot plane" while ATC workers "take a break". SNP MP Angus MacNeil tweeted: "Flights delayed at Glasgow Airport - shortage of air traffic controllers and those ATCs that are there are needing to take a break says the pilot."A passenger replied: "I’m in one!! Currently sat on a hot grounded plane. ATC at Glasgow are short staffed and those working needed a break. Not enough fuel to hold for 45 mins."
One passenger told The Scottish Sun: "We were due on an EasyJet flight to Gatwick at 10.30am but you could see from the flight tracker that the incoming flight suddenly got diverted to Prestwick. Then there were announcements about the airfield being closed and no explanation. "Flights are being delayed for about 90 minutes by the looks of it.
