Keiran O’Neill, who represented the Maryhill ward, stepped down 'with immediate effect' citing changes in his personal and professional life.
A labour councillor has announced their resignation from Glasgow City Council following changes in their 'personal and professional life'.
Keiran O’Neill took to social media on Friday, September 13, to say they were stepping down 'with immediate effect'. The Maryhill councillor, who was elected in 2022, has written to Susanne Millar, the council chief executive, to notify her of his decision. In a post on X, formally known as Twitter, he wrote: "Today, I am stepping down from Glasgow City Council. It has been an honour and privilege to represent communities across the Maryhill Ward in the City Chambers. To my constituents, all I can say is thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve.
O’Neill added: "Due to changes in my personal and professional life, it is now in the best interests of both my constituents and myself that I step down at this time.” Join Glasgow Live's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages
