The GP is under investigation

Dr Muhammad Masood is accused of sexually, physically and emotionally abusing a woman for more than a year while registered to work in the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.

It is further claimed he attempted to interfere with a General Medical Council investigation into the allegation by instructing a lawyer to write to another doctor to try and stop them providing information in support of the woman's claims.A hearing of the Medical Practitioners' Tribunal Service will hear evidence in relation to the claims, alleged to have taken place between 2016 and 17, when it meets next month at its HQ in Manchester.

They will also examine an allegation that Dr Masood appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on December 16, 2019 and was made the order of an absolute discharge, a disposal handed down when a court considers that while someone has been convicted of an offence, the facts and circumstances of the case do not merit any form of punishmentThe MPTS is the independent body that scrutinises cases for the General Medical Council, the watchdog responsible for investigating misconduct against doctors in the UK.

It has the power to impose sanctions against doctors if the panel finds their fitness to practise is impaired, including striking them from the medical register.
