Harris downplays rumours of accommodation cuts for Ukrainian refugees in Ireland

It was agreed by Government in May to reduce social welfare rates for all Ukrainians in serviced accommodation to €38.80 per week per adult and €29.80 per child. Their accommodation entitlement was also reduced to 90 days. However, the Taoiseach has now cast doubt on the latest proposals being introduced.

Taoiseach Simon Harris has downplayed suggestions that Ukrainian refugees arriving in Ireland will no longer be offered accommodation from next year. Speaking to reporters in Washington DC, the Fine Gael leader said he was “not convinced” entitlements for those fleeing the war could be curtailed any further.
