It's the last day of August and it looks like autumn weather is definitely on its way as Met Eireann have warned of heavy and thundery downpours across the country very soon
It's dry, sunny and clear today as Met Eireann have forecast highs of 22 degrees in parts of the country - but it won't last for long.
However, the miserable weather won't last for too long as it looks like more dry spells will be back midway through next week. Here's everything you need to know about the weather forecast for the rest of the weekend and early next week. Sunday 1st September There'll be a good lot of dry weather on Sunday with a mix of cloud and some bright or sunny intervals, and the odd light shower especially in the northeast. Through the afternoon, persistent and at times heavy or thundery rain starting to move in from the southwest. That rain will slowly spread northeastwards over the course of the rest of the day, mainly over Munster and west Connacht.
