Irish actor Patrick Bergin, known for his roles in films like Sleeping with the Enemy and Patriot Games, joins the cast of the iconic British soap opera EastEnders. Bergin will portray Aidan Joseph Patrick Maguire, an old friend of Phil Mitchell from prison, at the center of a 'truly explosive storyline' during the Christmas period.
Albert Square is welcoming a new Irish resident with the arrival of a bona fide Hollywood star, or at least he was at one point, hailing from Dublin itself. Patrick Bergin joins the cast of the long-running British soap opera. The 66-year-old actor, known for his roles in films like Sleeping with the Enemy alongside Julia Roberts, Patriot Games, and Robin Hood, will portray Aidan Joseph Patrick Maguire, a name as Irish as they come.
He is set to be an old friend of Phil Mitchell from their shared prison experience. Sources indicate that Bergin's character will be at the heart of a 'truly explosive storyline' during the Christmas period, intertwining with both Phil Mitchell (played by Steve McFadden) and Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer). Speaking about his exciting new role, Patrick Bergin expressed his delight: 'I am delighted to be joining EastEnders as I have watched and admired it since the days of Dirty Den. It is an iconic show that has the ability to shape the way people think, whilst also telling big explosive stories that keep the audience gripped.
