How to get your EU Digital COVID Certificate on your COVID tracker app as HSE announce new move
The HSE and the Department of Health have announced a new feature on the COVID tracker app which will allow people to carry their EU Digital COVID Certificate securely on their phones.
The cert comes into effect on Monday and will allow Irish people who are vaccinated to travel abroad across the continent freely.Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us the very best of our health service. The commitment to innovation and creative solutions shown in a crisis has been above and beyond.
"The COVID tracker app is part of that spirit of innovation. It has been a great success since its launch last year, not only supporting the work of contact tracers to suppress the virus in the community, but also delivering timely, accurate information on COVID-19 right into the hands of Irish people.
“I am very proud of the work of the HSE and Department of Health in enhancing the app’s functionality. From today, users can now safely and securely store their EU Digital Covid Certificate on the COVID Tracker App. This is a great development, and one that will support the continued reopening of our society.”You can access this new feature by downloading the update and following the instructions in the app to scan the QR code on your certificate.
The certificate is only stored on your phone, it is not shared with anyone, you can delete it at any time and it makes it easy for you to carry your certificate with you.
