Sir Ian McKellen has thanked the NHS after receiving treatment following a fall on stage while performing in West End play Player Kings on Monday night

Sir Ian McKellen has insisted he's "looking forward to returning to work" after his West End play was cancelled for several performances following a horror fall.

"To them, of course, I am hugely indebted. Updating fans on Sir Ian's health, a spokesperson for the London theatre said: "Following a scan, the brilliant NHS team have assured us that he will make a speedy and full recovery and Ian is in good spirits.
