Instagram users across Ireland, the UK, Europe and some parts of the United States experienced difficulties using the app on Wednesday afternoon.

Though the cause of the problems are unclear at this stage, countless people have reported issues accessing the app and, in some cases, liking posts on its newsfeed. The problems with Instagram come at a time when Facebook, the photo and video-sharing social network platform's parent company, has also been struck with its own technical problems. Whatsapp, the other major app owned by Facebook, appears to be functioning normally.website, which measures outages of popular social network sites across the internet, the issues with Instagram and Facebook started at around 4pm on Wednesday.
