Urgent action is needed to deal with Irish housing issues, a homelessness charity says.

Urgent action is needed to tackle a lack of housing in Ireland, a charity has said, after the number of people in emergency accommodation hit more than 14,000.

It represents a 14% rise in the number of homeless people housed in emergency accommodation over the last year. David Carroll said it was something the charity was calling for consistently and that the government's housing targets need to go up from 33,000 homes by 2025 to 50,000 homes.
