Irish passengers are the most forgetful in Europe, leaving over 6,000 items in FREENOW taxis in 2024. The most commonly forgotten items were mobile phones, bags, wallets, keys, headphones, and glasses.

Ireland is the most forgetful country in Europe when it comes to leaving items in taxis, as dentures and spaghetti were among the items found in the back of cabs in 2024. Irish passengers forgot a total of over 6,000 items in FREENOW taxis this year, which accounts for 24 per cent of all items lost across Europe . Germany was the second-most forgetful country, followed by Poland (15 per cent), the UK (14 per cent) and Spain (10 per cent).

Mobile phones topped the list of items left behind, accounting for a third of all commonly forgotten items. Bags and wallets were the second most forgotten items, followed by keys, headphones and glasses. Passengers also left behind vapes, passports, IDs, laptops and coats. Several engagement rings and wedding bands were also discovered by FREENOW drivers. The most unusual items discovered in the back seats of cabs include violins, cowboy hats, electric guitars, golf clubs and hair straighteners. A sandwich maker, dentures, spaghetti and a stethoscope were also left behind. Passengers also forgot merchandise from celebrities who toured in Dublin this year, including items from Taylor’s Swift Eras Tour and a Niall Horan t-shirt.
