Michael Lynn, a former solicitor from Ireland, was found guilty of stealing just over €18 million from six financial institutions during the Celtic Tiger period. He fled Ireland in 2007 to avoid scrutiny and spent 10 years evading justice, five of which were served in a Brazilian prison. Lynn was finally extradited back to Ireland in 2018 and sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison.

Michael Lynn is one of Ireland ’s most infamous fugitives, who was found guilty of stealing just over €18 million from six financial institutions.

Mr Lynn fled the county in December 2007 after racking up €80million in loans from high street banks, many of which were through multiple mortgages. He also owed an additional €12million to private investors who had paid for unbuilt apartments abroad. In 2013, Mr Lynn was arrested in Brazil and fought extradition back to Ireland until he was finally brought back nearly five years later. He remained in a Brazilian prison during this time.

Who is Michael Lynn’s wife? Mr Lynn is married to Brid Murphy. The couple first met in 2000 and had a brief romance, however, their serious relationship didn’t begin until they rekindled things four years later.
