Irish weather forecast: Met Eireann predicts Ireland to be as cold as Iceland on Sunday as temperatures plunge

Ireland will be as cold as Iceland later this week as temperatures drop to below freezing once again.

A spokesperson said: "On Sunday there's some uncertainty regarding details, but at this stage it looks like it will be bright, with sunny spells and well scattered showers."It will be fresh, with highs of 8C to 10C, in moderate southwest to west winds. The national forecaster is expecting a foggy but dry Friday morning, before "heavy bursts" of rain fall in the east. Temperatures as high as 12C may be recorded.

"Outbreaks of rain will soon arrive in western coastal counties, however, with the rain transferring eastwards over the country during the afternoon and evening, with some heavy bursts occurring.Met Eireann has warned of a wet and windy Saturday. Overnight temperatures are to be as low as 2C with frost occurring in places
