Ireland is set to enjoy an early taste of summer weather this week, with models suggesting temperatures could come close to 20C.
However, it’s not all good news. After Storm Kathleen wreaked havoc at the weekend, the weather is expected to continue unsettled with outbreaks of rain and breezy winds.Wet conditions will affect most areas today, and a weather warning for rain is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford until midnight tonight.
Giving a day-by-day breakdown of what to expect, the national forecaster said: “Wet across most areas on Monday with fairly widespread falls of rain. West Connacht and the far Northwest will however stay largely dry. The rain will persist for much of the day across the Midlands, South and East, heaviest in the Southeast with flooding likely.
“Rain and drizzle will develop in the southwest early on Tuesday night and will extend to most areas overnight. Light southwest winds at first, becoming southerly and increasing moderate to fresh. Lowest temperatures of 2C to 6C becoming milder in the southwest through the night.
