Met Éireann predicts a high of 24 degrees Celsius (75.2 Fahrenheit) on Thursday, making it the hottest day of the recent mini-heatwave. Temperatures will cool down this weekend with rain expected across much of the country.
Ireland is set to enjoy the hottest day of the recent mini-heatwave on Thursday before our Indian summer comes to an untimely end this weekend.
Should those highest temperatures be realised on Thursday, Ireland will also be warmer than a string of European hotspots renowned for being considerably hotter than here, such as the Spanish capital of Madrid, which is set to experience highs of a mere 21 degrees today. Before then, however, Friday is set to be another pleasant day on the weather front, with temperatures reaching 23 degrees and just a chance of a light shower on the east coast.
Beyond that, the forecast is a little less certain and while unsettled conditions seem likely, Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather has suggested that we might just avoid the worst of it.Areas of fog will clear later this morning. It will be a dry day with long spells of sunshine, turning hazy at times later. Highest temperatures of 20 to 24 degrees generally, a little cooler near the east coast due to a light to moderate easterly breeze. Tonight will be dry with mostly clear skies.
