Hungarian police initially stated that the Irish national had contacted emergency services and that the fire appeared to have been caused by the victim smoking in bed. However, friends of the deceased woman have come forward to say that she was not a smoker, leading to the arrest of her ex-husband for questioning. He maintains his innocence and denies any involvement in his ex-wife's death.A vigil was held in central Budapest on Tuesday evening, attended by approximately 200 people who paid their respects by placing flowers and candles near the apartment building where the tragedy occurred
