Irish syndicate turn €5,000 into €310,000 as they sell mare to Gordon Elliott

Familiar Dreams was bought for just £4,000 by Monaghan trainer Anthony McCann at a Tattersalls sale in July 2022

A small Irish syndicate are €310,000 richer after selling their star mare Familiar Dreams to Gordon Elliott .

But after winning her last four races, including a Grade 3 bumper at Punchestown on Wednesday, the mare went under the hammer to great interest. Quickly the bidding reached six figures before the hammer eventually came down at €310,000, and it was revealed that trainer Gordon Elliott tabled the winning bid.
