Laura O'Connell competed in the first-ever global Formula Woman race in Dubai . She was one of only two Irish women on the starting grid at the global event which was broadcast to 120 countries and will feature in a docuseries. As part of a behind-the-scenes look at the first-ever group of racers in Formula Woman , director Jessica Phillips has been following the drivers and filming a docuseries with Laura taking part in it.

It’s as real as you can get without getting on a track. I go on it everyday and I do a lot of gym training at home too. “I work a regular 9-5 as well, so most of my on-the-track training is done on the weekends. I travel to England quite a lot. It’s sometimes easier to get to the UK from Shannon Airport than to get to Dublin.” She added: “I’m quite lucky with Formula Woman as they hold quite a few training days and track days for us girls. When I go to England I get the best possible training that I can.” Her love for motorsport comes from watching it at home, but also from her father to
