The Italian Rugby Federation has told the IRFU that Irish fans will fill close to half of the famous ground for the fifth round championship encounter, but their hopes of a Grand Slam celebration were blown away last week
Up to 30,000 Ireland supporters are expected at the Stadio Olimpico for tomorrow's Six Nations clash against Italy.
Many Irish fans booked the trip well in advance of the championship in the hope that their heroes would claim an historic third consecutive Six Nations title - and the Grand Slam - on St Patrick's weekend in the ancient city. England are also in the mix on Super Saturday. Ireland's clash with the Azzurri will be the first game played and the visitors need to rack up a high-scoring victory to put pressure on England and France, but if the top three win tomorrow then Ireland will have to settle for third place.
Cian Healy, who has been omitted from the squad and so played his final Test game last weekend, is with the travelling party and took part in this afternoon's captain's run at the stadium in case of any late withdrawals.
