The singer-songwriter was greeted with huge cheers as he addressed Scousers in the crowd
The Liverpool singer-songwriter had his biggest performance yet at the festival, taking to the Other Stage on Saturday morning. Jamie has had a busy year, releasing his new album 10 For The People in February and will return to his hometown to perform in Sefton Park later this month.
Megan Vaughan, 27, from Old Swan, said: “I’ve been going every year since 2015. It’s the best festival, the best place, the best people. It’s the best place in the world. There’s just a different vibe.” When Jamie asked if anybody at the performance was from Liverpool, he was greeted with huge cheers. Laughing, Jamie addressed the fellow Scousers in the crowd, adding: “Just keep that secret ticket link quiet okay? There’s about five tunnels we dig in December, that’s how we’re all in.” This again drew large cheers from the crowd.
"You get a black dot against your name and there’s no rook to rehabilitate yourself. You can lose contact with friends, and family and fall out of work. Now for me, I understand if people have done wrong, you need to pay for a mistake. But we should help them see a way. Because some of these people, they've never seen an opportunity like we have, they never had what we’ve got and it's hard for them to see because of the circumstances they live in.
