Jason Momoa's reaction to James Gunn's Lobo post fuels rumors that the DCU actor might be taking on a new part within the franchise: 'The comic I collected the most, and I have every comic there is... you can do your research and find out what it is.'
Jason Momoa's recent DC Universe comments and a cryptic post from James Gunn have fueled rumors that the Aquaman actor is perhaps playing Lobo. With the launch of DC Studios, Gunn and Peter Safran are officially the bosses for Warner Bros. Discovery's superhero properties as they will be focusing on leading TV, movie, and animation development.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Not long after, Gunn opened up a new social media account with a Lobo tease. As a follow-up, ComicBook interviewed Momoa and directly asked him if there was any chance that the two situations were in any way connected. While Momoa wouldn't give a clear answer, he made it evident that Lobo has always been his favorite comic book character, sharing the following:

While Gunn hasn't made any follow-up statements, the ongoing theory is that Momoa is indeed somehow involved with the Lobo character, either for a TV show or a movie.
Unless something drastic happens behind the scenes, the plan is also still to develop projects that aren't necessarily tied to the DCU. If that is the case, it wouldn't be impossible for Momoa to be perhaps playing Lobo in a standalone project, despite already playing Aquaman. In fact, there was a Lobo movie in the works years ago, with Michael Bay eyed to direct. Whether or not Bay is still attached to that, or a new iteration of the Lobo project is in the works, is unclear.
If It Isn't Lobo, What's Momoa's Dream DCU Project? In the scenario that it is not a Lobo film or HBO Max show, it's extremely unclear what this might be about as far as Momoa's DCU dream goes under Gunn and Safran's management.
