Hollywood stars Jessica Lange and Ed Harris shared their admiration for Ireland and Guinness on The Late Late Show . Lange revealed a long-standing love for the Emerald Isle, mentioning her previous residence in Connemara and her daughter's schooling there. She expressed that if she were younger and more inclined towards a whimsical lifestyle, she would relocate permanently.
'You could never get bored of Ireland,' Lange added, with Harris concurring that he would also relish living there, particularly considering the current political climate in the United States. 'I love the people, I love the land, I love the Guinness,' Harris stated. The duo are starring in the new film, Long Day's Journey Into Night, an adaptation of the play of the same name by Eugene O'Neill. However, their second day of filming faced a setback when financing for the project unexpectedly fell through. This left Lange and Harris with unexpected downtime in Ireland as production was halted. 'We were here, drinking a lot of Guinness and whiskey and making a lot of phone calls,' Lange recounted. For three weeks, they tirelessly worked to secure new funding and ensure the film's completion. Fortunately, their efforts were rewarded when Bill Kenwright, a London-based theatre producer and a friend of Lange's, stepped in to save the day.Lange has collaborated with renowned Irish actors, including Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, and Pierce Brosnan, in various roles. She fondly reminisced about working with Neeson on Rob Roy, describing his kilt-clad antics as highly entertaining. Speaking of Byrne, Lange highlighted the unique bond forged during their lengthy stage performances. 'With Pierce, it was a tiny little film we did,' she explained, referring to The Great Lillian Hall. She emphasized her enjoyment of the filming experience, adding a playful touch by mentioning the pleasure of kissing Brosnan on screen. 'All three of them, I highly recommend all three of them,' she concluded
