McManus is famed for landing massive gambles over the years but he told the Racing Post that these days he can enjoy watching his horses without a bet

JP McManus has revealed that he has only backed one horse for next week's Cheltenham Festival - and it is not even one of his own.

"Do you know, I don't really bet like I used to," he said. "In those days I always wanted to be in the fast lane. I was headstrong. McManus has assembled one of the strongest ever teams for this year's Cheltenham Festival. At the time of writing he has the ante-post favourite for 12 of the 28 races. The Blue Bresil gelding is currently vying for favouritism for the Champion Bumper after making an impressive racecourse debut at Navan last month.
