The child, who police say threatened to shoot students at Shippensburg Middle School and made bomb threats on two separate days, has been turned over to juvenile probation.

The juvenile, who was not named because of his age, has been charged in relation to the Jan. 11 shooter threats and the March 8 and March 10 bomb threats, police said in a news release issued Thursday. Police did not say whether the young person was a student nor did they provide details of the shooting threats.

A bomb threat March 8 forced the evacuation of the middle school to Shippensburg High School, where they spent the rest of the day. All after-school activities and practices for the evening were canceled. The case will be handled in the juvenile system where the suspect’s name will remain confidential and details about the status and disposition are not shared publicly.

A joint investigation between state police and the Shippensburg Police Department led to the child being charged with making terroristic threats, threatening to use a weapon of mass destruction and criminal use of a communication facility.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
