Actor and comedian Kevin McGahern opens up about his experience on Dancing With The Stars, admitting he finds it hard to watch since his own stint. He also discusses his new show, Cheap European Homes, and reveals why a move abroad isn't on the cards just yet.
Kevin McGahern has admitted that watching Dancing With The Stars since his own appearance on the show has become difficult. The actor and comedian participated in the 2023 season, partnered with pro dancer Laura Nolan , who went on to win the 2025 series with Rhys McClenaghan. Kevin and Laura were eliminated just before the final in their season. Now, Kevin confesses to feeling like he 'let Laura down' with his performance.
'I find it very hard to watch DWTS because all I can do is just remember, 'I should have done this, or 'Why didn't I do this better?'' he explained. Despite the lingering disappointment, he expressed immense joy at Laura's victory, stating, 'But I was so delighted that Laura won, because she wanted to win so badly.' Speaking with RTE Guide, he further elaborated, 'When I got knocked out, I didn't feel bad for myself. My first thought was, Oh, my God, I've let Laura down.' Kevin will be back on screen soon, joining the cast of Cheap European Homes for its second season alongside presenter Maggie Molloy. The duo had never met before filming commenced, but fortunately, their chemistry was instant. 'I just had the absolute craic with Maggie, so hopefully that comes across on screen because we just had a ball,' he shared. 'We got on straight away. We're both fairly laid-back country people. We have no notions, the pair of us. She's very easy to chat to, and she immediately puts you at ease. I think I put her at ease as well.' The six-part show, which follows Irish house hunters seeking a new life abroad, took Kevin and Maggie to stunning locations across Europe, including the Algarve in Portugal and Collioure in the south of France. However, due to his young family, Kevin envisions himself staying put for now. He and his wife Siobhan have a four-year-old daughter, Wallis, and a two-year-old son, Jesse. 'I don't know. It's harder now when you have kids to make that big move,' Kevin admitted. 'It's not like I can really work from home. I don't know what the comedy scene is like in Frigiliana but it's definitely a place where you're like, Oh God, if we were retiring, this would be just amazing. But I don't know if I'd up sticks now; I think I'm a bit too scared.
