February might be the shortest month of the year, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be several cost of living changes on the way. From an energy boost for every household to a price increase, there is good and bad on the way. \Here is everything you need to know for February 2025: \ Budget 2025 Electricity Account Credit It was announced in Budget 2025 that all domestic electricity customers will get €250 off their electricity bills. The energy credit will be paid in 2 instalments of €125.
The first payment was made between 1 November and 31 December 2024. The second credit will be made between 1 January and 28 February 2025. \Bills PTSB - mortgage rates PTSB announced new mortgage rates that came into effect from 17 January and they are available to both new and existing personal customers. This is the fourth cut to fixed-rate mortgages that PTSB has announced since December 2023. PTSB - cashback on mortgage repayments From 21 January, PTSB started offering 2% cashback on monthly mortgage repayments to existing mortgage customers. The bank shared that the cashback amount varies depending on the customer's monthly repayment amount. Customers could receive €30 back each month based on a monthly mortgage repayment of €1,500. To be considered eligible for the cashback, PTSB mortgage customers are required to make their monthly mortgage repayment by direct debit from a PTSB Explore Current Account. The 2% monthly cashback offer is available for qualifying customers until at least the end of 2030. \Revolut Revolut just announced that they will allow credit card customers to pay off their balance in instalments. People can avail of the repayments of three, six, nine and 12 months at a lower rate than Revolut's standard annual percentage rate. People can put together instalment plans for eligible purchases on the Revolut app, with multiple purchases able to be consolidated into the one instalment plan. \Diageo Diageo announced that the price of Guinness, Harp, Smithwicks, Hophouse 13 and Harp will increase from 3 February. In January, publications were informed that the price will rise by 6% per pint before VAT.
