🔴 Breaking: Labour MP suspended over ‘serious allegations of unacceptable behaviour’ towards women
Veteran Labour MP Geraint Davies has been suspended by the party following “incredibly serious” allegations relating to the sexual harassment of junior colleagues.
The Swansea West MP has been administratively suspended from the party, which also means having the whip suspended in Westminster.on Thursday that five women had reported that he had subjected them to unwanted sexual attention, both physical and verbal, after coming into contact with them through his work as an MP.
Several of the incidents are said to have taken place on the parliamentary estate, and one woman alleged to the publication that she was just 19 years old at the time.claimed that interviews with more than 20 people who worked with Mr Davies in Parliament had shown a pattern of excessive drinking, sexual comments and unwanted touching covering five years.
A Labour spokesperson said: “These are incredibly serious allegations of completely unacceptable behaviour.“Any complainant will have access to an independent support service who provide confidential and independent guidance and advice from external experts throughout the process.”
