Saoirse Ruane made a huge impression when she appeared on the show in 2020, capturing the hearts of the nation - she sadly passed away earlier this year but the show had a sweet tribute
During a performance of For Good from Wicked The Musical, there was a zoom in on top of a Christmas tree in the studio, where there was a star labelled 'Saoirse's star'.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Saoirse's star has me bawling I hope her family knows how much she was loved by everyone around the country." The Galway girl captured the hearts of the nation when she appeared on The Late Late Show alongside then presenter Ryan Tubridy in 2020.
The RTÉ Toy Show Appeal began in 2020, and was inspired by the story of Saoirse. She appeared on the show that year, aged eight, to tell her story and launch the appeal. Saoirse's cancer journey began in 2019 and she received four diagnoses over four years. She sadly passed away in March, at 12-years-old.
