Liverpool were close to signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle in the summer before talks over a deal collapsed - and the England star is now poised to commit his future to the Magpies
Liverpool target Anthony Gordon is said to be close to agreeing a new long-term contract with Newcastle.
Their interest in Gordon has remained, though, while it emerged earlier this month that Arsenal were also in the frame for the former Everton man. However, it now seems that Newcastle are close to tying Gordon down to a lucrative new deal. That news will come as a blow to Liverpool, even though they signed Federico Chiesa from Juventus last month. The winger has looked sharp in his first appearances in a Reds shirt but the same report claims their interest in Gordon has not waned.Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe addressed the transfer speculation surrounding Gordon back in August.
