Gordon Ramsay's wife Tana Ramsay revealed the celebrity chef wasn't in the delivery room when their four eldest children were born - but witnessed the births of their two youngest

Gordon Ramsay wasn't in the delivery room with his wife when she gave birth to their four eldest children in what was described by Tana Ramsay as a "very controversial" decision.

She said she was "happy" with their choice as "it felt right" to leave him outside the room. She told the podcast host: "He would've gotten all squeamish and probably fainted and all the attention would've been on him, and this is my moment. It didn't ever really bother me and I actually felt quite happy when we talked about it."

She revealed: "I don't know what changed; it's just he wanted to be there. I felt it would be nice." The chef's wife, who is a broadcaster and author, experienced a miscarriage at 20 weeks in 2016, with a son they named Rocky. She said that losing the baby might have influenced Gordon's decision to be in the delivery room when their youngest children were born. The celebrity chef previously opened up about the grief the family felt after losing Rocky.

"And I think that’s the thing is that you don't know what to expect. But it's like this tiny, tiny little doll. It was really hard. It's that feeling of emptiness. And then the next morning you're leaving the hospital and you haven't got a baby." Tana said the couple underwent in vitro fertilisation for all of their pregnancies except for Tilly who she described as their only "surprise".
