Fire crews raced to Great Western Road this afternoon
Video footage taken from the scene showed the back end of the trailer tilted and completely engulfed in flames. Plumes of black smoke could be seen billowing up into the sky.
The primary school confirmed children were safely evacuated from the premises following the incident. In a statement, seen by Glasgow Live, parents were told: "Thanks to everyone for your patience and calmness as we aimed to get children out and collected safely today in an emergency situation. Thankfully the fire was brought under control quickly."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Four appliances attended an HGV fire at Great Western Road in Glasgow. It was extinguished just before 5pm this evening and left in the hands of police and Glasgow roads department. No injuries were reported."
