The lucky player matched all five numbers in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Wednesday, January 21, claiming the €500,000 prize after purchasing the winning ticket online. The winner, from County Mayo, visited National Lottery HQ this week to collect their winnings and revealed that their partner initially didn't believe the news.
'I was in the break room at work when I checked my ticket,' the Lotto winner recalled. 'I immediately rang my partner and told her the good news. She didn't believe me and thought I was winding her up. She told me to swear on my dog's life. Only when I swore on my dog's life did she believe me!' Asked about their plans for the winnings, the winner said, 'It's not every day you win €500,000 and I look forward to properly marking the occasion. A once in a lifetime trip is on the cards, a first-class ticket to somewhere off the beaten track!' This week saw multiple lottery winners celebrating at Lotto HQ. A Dublin player also visited to claim an incredible €98,954 prize won after matching five numbers and the bonus on the Saturday, December 14 Lotto draw. They purchased their ticket from SuperValu, 7 Lorcan Avenue, Santry, Dublin 9. 'I overheard people in the same shop I had bought the ticket in, saying the shop had sold the winning ticket, I never thought it would be my ticket – but it was worth checking!' said the Dublin player. 'This is a life-changing amount of money, and it is still yet to sink in.' They plan to use the winnings to fulfil a lifelong dream of seeing an F1 race.Another County Dublin player secured €85,023 after matching five numbers and a lucky star in the EuroMillions draw on Friday, January 17. The winning ticket was purchased online. Speaking to the National Lottery, the delighted winner shared, 'When I saw the amount, I thought it said €85 and 20 cent – when I realised it was €85,023, I thought 'Wow this cannot be real,' the Lotto winner recalled. 'I've no immediate plans for the prize; a large amount will be used to lower my mortgage – after that maybe a nice trip away!
