Louis Rees-Zammit, the former rugby international, has received words of encouragement from NFL legends Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce after signing a three-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Louis Rees-Zammit has received words of encouragement from several NFL legends as his role with the Kansas City Chiefs becomes more clear.
During a recent appearance on The Rugby Pod with Dan Biggar, Rees-Zammit revealed that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce both messaged him upon learning of his signing. "Yeah, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce messaged me saying: 'Welcome to KC, if you ever need anything, let me know," Rees-Zammit said, later joking: "Pat is my best mate now.
“It's big news, he’s strong and looks amazing,” Watt said on the Stick to Football podcast. "They’re doing a big reveal on it, which is funny because I saw a meme on it recently that they’re doing a reveal for a guy who is going to be fighting for a roster spot. “The NFL is such a cut-throat business, so it’s going to be hard for him to make it, but we shall see. It’s just because there’s only 53 spots and you start the roster with 90 players, so that means you’re cutting all those guys to get down to 50 and means the teams don’t care who they’re cutting.”Rees-Zammit is currently listed as a running back on the Chiefs official roster, but will likely play a far bigger role for Kansas City this upcoming season.
