Temperatures dipped to -7C overnight as a Status Orange low temperature and ice warning remains in place for most of the country until 11am this morning.
The weather station in Mullingar in County Westmeath recorded a low of -7.5C, while Athenry in County Galway saw a low of -7.1C overnight.
After the Status Orange warning expires at 11am, a Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning will remain in place for the entire country until lunchtime tomorrow.Road temperatures remain below freezing with motorists being warned to prepare for black ice even on treated roads. Arctic Blast to Bring Snow and Ice Warnings to Northern IrelandA new status yellow snow and ice warning has been issued for four counties in Northern Ireland due to the ongoing Arctic blast affecting Ireland and the UK.
