Some older smartphones using Vodafone's service are at risk of losing their signal due to plans to shut down 3G networks around Ireland in 2024- Dubln, Cork and Galway will be switched off in June
The Commission for Communications Regulation was informed that Vodafone has begun to switch off parts of its 3G network and intends to fully retire its 3G services in 2024.

However, Vodafone customers with older phones that do not support 4G or 5G are encouraged to take action to avoid service disruption.
Vodafone has provided information for their customers on their website, advising: "If you’re already using 4G/5G on your phone, simply ensure that you have the latest software version installed to enjoy the best possible connection."For those with older devices, Vodafone suggests taking steps to ease the transition.
