Major road closure in Penwortham after two people hit by car crossing street
A major road through Penwortham was partially closed this lunchtime following a road traffic collision.
Emergency services were called to the A59 Liverpool Road shortly before 12pm today. Lancashire Constabulary said the incident involved two people and a vehicle. Both pedestrians suffered 'minor injuries' after being struck by a car while crossing the road. Officers said it was a 'low speed' collision and no arrests were reported.It is not clear if the pedestrians were taken to hospital for treatment. LancsLive has contacted North West Ambulance Service for comment.
A police force spokesperson said it was a "collision between a car and two people who were crossing the road". Traffic alert service Inrix said Liverpool Road was closed westbound between Hill Road and Cop Lane but has since reopened.
