The southeast will escape the worst of the rain this Bank Holiday weekend

Weather forecasters are warning of the risk of localised flooding this Bank Holiday weekend, with the advice being to 'make the most' of Saturday, which is looking like the best day of the weekend.

Met Eireann echoes that forecast, with the national forecaster expecting some sunny spells and just a few scattered showers today, Saturday August 3, with the southeast staying mainly dry in highs of between 16C to 20C. Sunday then will start dry but rain will develop in Connacht throughout the morning and spread into Ulster and north Leinster in the afternoon but the rest of the country will stay mainly dry. As the weather warning comes into effect on Sunday night, localised flooding is possible in parts of Connacht.
