A man will appear in court in Cork tomorrow in connection with the death of chef Ian Baitson, who was attacked with a sword in Cobh on March 15 and died in hospital four days later.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds for the funeral of Mr Baitson. A portion of the monies raised will be donated to the intensive care unit at Cork University Hospital .The 33-year-old was attacked shortly before 9pm on March 15 in a car park on the Newtown Road in Cobh.More than €13,800 has been raised to assist the grieving family with funeral costs and to support the young children of the deceased in the coming months.
“In this time of mourning, Ian’s family and close friends have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of help, support, generosity, and kindness from our community,” they added.
