It is understood the victim is in his 40s and was originally from eastern Europe.
“The man’s body remains at the scene,” the Garda said in reply to queries. “The coroner has been notified and a postmortem will take place. The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination. Investigations are ongoing.” Despite some claims the fire was linked to an international protection centre, that is not the case and the man who died was not an international protection applicant.
