He was pronounced dead at scene
The driver, in his 70s, was the only person in the car when it hit a pole on the Mill Road in Fermoy.They said: "Gardaí in Fermoy are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Mill Road, Fermoy, Co. Cork at approximately 2.10pm, May 1." and his body has been taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital.
