The seizures were made following the search of a market in North County Dublin
A man was arrested after a large quantity of cigarettes, tobacco and alcohol were seized during a major multi-agency operation in Dublin at the weekend.
During the course of the operation, over 79,200 cigarettes and 1.25kgs of tobacco were seized. The seized cigarettes and tobacco, of various brands including John Player, Richmond, Rothmans, Blue River, L&B and Sovereign, had a retail value of more than €72,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €57,300.
The alcohol seized, which comprised of 58 litres of spirits, 65 litres of wine, 429 litres of Beer and Cider and 115 litres of unidentified alcohol, has a value of over €4,000 with a potential loss to the exchequer of €2,450 A number of individuals were questioned on the day and gardaí attached to Balbriggan Garda Station arrested a man for suspected money laundering offences.
