A man facing charges of possessing a significant amount of cocaine has been granted bail by a Limerick judge. The accused must adhere to specific conditions, including maintaining constant contact with authorities via a charged mobile phone.

A man facing charges of possessing €204,000 worth of cocaine has been granted bail by Judge Patricia Harney at a special sitting of Limerick District Court held in Kilmallock. Mr. Quinn is accused of possessing cocaine for sale or supply, contrary to Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, and of possessing cocaine, contrary to Section 3 of the same Act. Mr. Quinn's arrest stemmed from an intelligence-led Garda operation.

Armed detectives stopped and searched a car on the N20 at Ballyourgan, near Croom, last Friday afternoon. During the search, €204,000 worth of cocaine was recovered, leading to Mr. Quinn's arrest at the scene. Det Gda Anthony Harnett of Henry Street Garda station testified to arresting Mr. Quinn at the station on Saturday at 3:36 pm and charging him at 3:58 pm.Insp Gearoid Thompson of Bruff Garda station informed the court that Gardaí did not object to bail, provided Mr. Quinn adhered to specific conditions. These included lodging a €1,000 cash surety in court. Inspector Thompson requested a 12-week remand, conditional on a file being submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Mr. Quinn deposited the €1,000 cash and agreed to the bail terms, which also stipulated that he reside at his home address in Caherconlish, notify Gardaí in writing of any address changes, sign on three times a week at Roxboro Road Garda station in Limerick, surrender his passport, refrain from applying for new travel documents, remain contactable by Gardaí at all times via a charged and credit mobile phone, and avoid any criminal activity while on bail. Judge Harney cautioned Mr. Quinn that failing to answer his phone to Gardaí would be considered a breach of his bail conditions, leading to his arrest and continued detention. The judge remanded Mr. Quinn on bail, requiring him to appear before Limerick District Court again on April 30th for directions from the DPP
