Man dies after car struck by school bus

Police responded about 10:44 a.m. and emergency responders attempted life-saving measures. The coroner’s office was dispatched at 11: 55 a.m.

A 68-year-old South Haven man was killed Monday when his car collided with a Union Township school bus, which wasn’t carrying students.

The Porter County sheriff’s office said the victim, identified by the coroner’s office as John Francis Nunez, disregarded a stop sign as he traveled eastbound on County Road 450W. The bus, going southbound on 650W, struck the car in the intersection. Police responded about 10:44 a.m. and emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures. The coroner’s office was dispatched at 11:55 a.m.Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash in a rural area, south of Indiana 130.
