The remains of an unidentified man were found in a shed in Dundrain, County Donegal. Gardai are investigating the cause of death and are appealing for information. Local councillor Jack Murray urged the public to check on their elderly and vulnerable neighbors during the cold snap.
The man’s remains were found in this steel shed which is adjacent to a cottage which has remained vacant for a number of years in the Dundrain area of Burnfoot, close to the border with Derry.
He was taken to University Hospital Letterkenny where a post mortem is expected to be carried out on the body today. The cause of the man’s death is still not known. Local county councillor Jack Murray said the thoughts and prayers of the local community were with the deceased and his family. Councillor Murray stressed that it is still not known who the man is or how the man died.
“While we cannot say how he died, I would still like to remind people to check on their neighbours, especially those living alone during this cold snap. It only takes five minutes and many elderly people are simply terrified to come out of their homes when the weather is so bad.
