Exclusive - We have established that the suspect was known to gardai - and was previously arrested over a mental health related incident just days prior. Sources say gardai were keeping an eye on the man - and officers patrolling the area were on the scene within seconds.
The man caught brandishing a knife on the same street where a mass stabbing occurred was recently detained over mental health concerns.

“Unfortunately one of the little kids that was stabbed in the previous incident was on the bus. The principal is in shock. He can’t believe this has happened.” In a statement gardai confirmed that a man in his 30s has been arrested for alleged threatening behaviour under the Firearms and Offences Weapons Act. The male is currently in custody in a Dublin City Centre Garda Station.“An Garda Síochána had been conducting regular patrols in this area and these patrols will continue. Gardaí are liaising with the local community and anyone impacted by the incident.
